Planning Your Grant Writing

The When Is My Grant Due calendar, developed by the PDS team, shows when some of the primary grants are typically due and is designed to help you plan your funding strategy.

When Is My Grant Due?

Grantsmanship

We know that there is so much that goes into submitting a grant, so we designed a Canvas-based, self-paced learning lab to help with the "hidden curriculum" that goes into preparing a winning proposal. Through the learning lab, you can learn more about grant readiness, developing a pitch, creating effective graphics, proposal layout, specific proposal components, and more!

Our team hosts regular workshops and infosessions on a variety of topics related to grantsmanship, research development, and specific funding opportunities. For information about upcoming Proposal Development Services events, please visit our Events page.

UC Davis Faculty

The PDS team's mission is to help UC Davis faculty fund their research through proposal development, so faculty should feel free to reach out to us directly at pds@ucdavis.edu or via the form below with any questions regarding specific funding opportunities and grantsmanship assistance.

Please keep in mind that the PDS team's services regarding individual proposal assistance is restricted to faculty and researchers. There are some conditions under which we assist postdoctoral students (explained below), but we do not provide direct grant writing help to graduate students.

If you are a postdoctoral scholar...

Our team can provide direct assistance to postdoctoral scholars only if they are the PI on a non-fellowship proposal that must be submitted through the UC Davis Sponsored Programs Office (SPO). If you are a postdoc applying for a fellowship (which are not submitted through SPO), relevant resources may be available to you via the UC Davis Graduate Studies External Fellowships Team Webpage. The GS External Fellowships Analysts will also coordinate the submission process .

If you are a graduate student...

The PDS team does not provide direct proposal development support for graduate students. Relevant resources may be available to you via the UC Davis Graduate Studies External Fellowships Team webpage. The GS External Fellowships Analysts will also coordinate the submission process. Additionally, general writing resources that may be valuable to graduate students during the proposal development process are available through the UC Davis University Writing Program.
