💡 Grant Writing Tip: Additional Funding Sources

Our last tip focused on strategies for finding and vetting funding. Most often, we think of federal funders for research, but there are several other sources to support your work that you may not have considered yet!

California State Funding

Run by the California State Library, the California Grants Portal is the place to find grants and loans offered by California state agencies. This site features only active funding opportunities, so you may also want to browse individual state funders for opportunities that are upcoming as well.

Below are just a sample of the state agencies that post funding opportunities on the California Grants Portal!

UC Davis Internal Funding Opportunities

The University of California system and the UC Davis Office of Research offer a variety of funding opportunities for researchers within the UC system and on our campus. You can view these opportunities near the bottom of the UC Davis Funding Opportunities page.

Foundations and Corporations

The UC Davis Foundation and Corporate Engagement (FCE) office helps match researchers with private foundations and corporations that fund all types of research. Reach out to their team if you'd like help finding private funding options to fit your research goals.

Key Takeaway

There are several other funding options beyond the federal agencies you typically think of.
